Our main products include a full range for the ingot casting process and pre-cast refractory shapes, sprayed refractories, mould fluxes, and carbon bonded ceramic components for use in the secondary refining and continuous casting processes.
Refractories and treatments agents for the ingot casting process include KALMINEX exothermic ingot head lining systems, PROFAX insulating assemblies, FERRUX and KALTOP anti piping systems, and STELOTOL indirect teeming products. Supporting this range are services such as AMITEC thermal conductivity measurement and SOLSTAR ingot solidification prediction.
For secondary refining, FOSCAST low and ultra low cement pre-shaped refractories give much greater resistance to erosion by liquid steel, guaranteeing longer working life. Our wide range extends from injection and purging lances and purging plug systems (through our alliance with Pahage GmbH), through vacuum degasser snorkels, up to ladle treatment bells and gunning materials, all supported with a full service package.
In the area of continuous casting, Foseco Steel's Total Tundish Management System (TTMS) is a working partnership clearly focused on cutting overall operational costs. It combines our experience and expertise with that of the customer, utilizing the full Foseco Steel range of tundish products including well known brands like FOSCAST monolithic permanent tundish linings and high alumina, pre-cast shapes (dams, weirs, baffles etc), and TUNCAST and TUNDEX (CS/HS) spray and dry working linings. The Foseco Steel Total Tundish Management System guarantees low production costs with high performance.
TURBOSTOP is a revolutionary tundish flow control system which significantly improves the quality of steel produced during continuous casting, with the potential for substantial reduction in steel production costs. TURBOSTOP is always optimized to customers' specific requirements using Foseco Steel's extensive water modelling facilities to simulate both steady state casting and ladle change practices. It provides improved steel cleanliness, simplified tundish build, extended sequences, increased productivity and yield, and reduced scrap.
Foseco Steel's AFAX continuous casting mould fluxes ensure consistent, high-quality performance and ensure that the demands of higher speeds, new steel grades, tighter specifications and casting thickness can be met.
