| Summary |
FOSCAST delta section is a pre-cast monolithic high alumina
refractory roof for use in electric arc furnaces. |
|
| Description |
The FOSCAST delta section replaces the formerly bricked
construction. When assembled, the roof is first gently
dried before use. It is designed for use and compatibility
with monolithic FOSCAST economisers. |
|
| Application |
FOSCAST delta roof is supplied in 3 pre-cast individual
pieces. They are of a monolithic construction and are
assembled into a water-cooled delta frame to form a complete
furnace roof. A high alumina refractory castable is used
to seal the 3 sections together. |
|
| Function |
Traditionally, electric arc furnace roofs were constructed
of refractory bricks. The lifetime of a FOSCAST delta
roof depends on the individual furnace and steelmaking
practice, but can be expected to be in the order of 2
to 3 times longer than bricked roofs under the same conditions. |
|
| Benefits |
 |
3-section construction provides ease of handling. |
 |
After assembly the roof becomes a single unit for
maximum strength. |
 |
Assembly is quick and easy.
|
 |
Time between relining is significantly extended.
