Close co-operation with our customers has provided us with a thorough understanding of steelmaker´s needs. Our patented TURBOSTOP® tundish flow control system was developed to optimise both tundish design and practice.

The system dampens the energy from incoming stream und suppresses turbulence in the pour area. Greater flow control through the tundish significantly improves steel quality and provides substantial cost-saving potential. The TURBOSTOP® system is optimised to suit each customer´s given needs using our in-house water modelling facilities. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is also used in this design process.

When simulating steady-state casting and ladle changes using water modelling, a special type of oil is used to show flow patterns in the tundish and the mould. A fibre optics system captures data for correlation to steel cleanliness and the volume of transition steel produced during grade changes. Taking into consideration other variables found in the continuous casting process, data is then used to tailor the TURBOSTOP® system to suit your particular tundish and casting conditions in order to optimise final steel quality and yield.
